City centre Nottingham Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem , Robin Hood statue and Ghost Walk |
||
|
This is reputedly the oldest inn in England. The inn dates back to 1189 when the crusaders rested here en-route to the Holy Land. Serves drinks and food and is worth a visit.
Walk up the road from the inn and just below the castle you will find Robin Hood. This is a pleasant spot for a picnic in a largely pedestrian only area. The 7ft bronze statue was erected in 1952. A number of plaques surround the statue and depict various scenes of Robin Hood's merry band. Take part in the
Ghost Walk
and see the
ghostly secrets of Nottingham, in the shadows of the Castle, in a
graveyard, and underground in the living sandstone rock. Let them weave
their web of chilling tales. Rich and poor, noble and treacherous, young
and old, Nottingham’s ghosts all await you . Ghostly screams, gory
executions, haunting history, they are all grist to their ghoulish mill.
