Newark
is less than 20 miles from Nottingham and is well worth a visit.Visit the market square with open market on Monday and Saturday.
Visit the many antique shops that proliferate everywhere.
At
Newark Castle, there are river trips up the Trent through the locks just
up from the castle.
Not far away is the Newark Air museum where there is a fine display of rare British, American and European aircraft.
St Mary Magdalene parish church in The Market place is huge and impressive. Fleming brass, restored font, chantry chapel, Dance of Death painting, and misericord choir stalls.
