Hardwick Hall | The National Trust is an exceptional example of an Elizabethan house showing the wealth and authority of the builder, Bess of Hardwick.
This house dominates the landscape and has outstanding collections of 16th century furniture, tapestries, and needlework.
Walled gardens enclose fine gardens, orchards and herb garden.
The park has rare breeds of cattle and sheep.
The ruins of The Old Hall, under English Heritage management, and Stainsby Mill may also be visited in the area.

See also Stainsby Mill. (Also NT) A remarkably complete water-powered flour mill.
With newly reconstructed 1849-50 machinery, the mill is still in good working order and flour is ground regularly throughout the season.
