If you cross Castle Boulevard from
Brewhouse Yard
and turn the
corner into Wilford Street, just round the corner you will find the canal
and a little further, access to the Inland Revenue site. The area is worth
exploring a little to see the extraordinary architecture of the Inland
Revenue site and the towpath along the canal. You will also get good views
of the castle from below and if you keep walking come to the Sainsbury car
park and
Castle Marina.
Another
attraction is on the other side of Wilford Street. Walk down Canal Street
and find one of the alleys that takes you down to the canal. Visit the Canal
House bar and restaurant and find that the canal enters the bar and you may
find a barge moored there within the bar! The waterfront area has several
bars and restaurants and you can sit out in a pleasant area and watch the
traffic on the canal. This is also a popular evening venue.
